Josiah bounded up the stairs this morning at 7 am, fifteen minutes before I usually wake the kids up to start our day. He ran into the living room and said, “Mom, I can sing my English jingle by heart!” He then proceeded to sing the Shurley English noun jingle, to the tune of “This Old Man:”

This little noun,
Floating around,
Names a person, place or thing,
With a knick-knack paddy-whack,
These are English rules!
Isn’t language fun and cool?

It was especially adorable because last night he lost one of his top front teeth, so all of his “s” sounds slightly whistle.
