Links for Friday - and some Lost talk
We are on our first day of Spring Break - and I am being very lazy today. I did make the kids read, but that’s it. We have all of next week off of homeschooling, and I am very ready for a break. And to top it off, Michelle and I are heading to Spokane tomorrow for our Mom’s Overnighter. Woo hoo! No kids, no husbands — just two friends, Barnes & Noble, and lots of chocolate. What could be better?
Kevin and the boys will be heading over to play Wii and GameCube with Don and their boys. Natalie begged Grandma and Papa for a sleepover so she could avoid a whole day with 7 guys - who can blame her?
If you haven’t watched last night’s episode of Lost yet, scroll right past this part of the post - scroll down until you see a sentence in bold again.
Okay, what do you think? Is Jin really dead - or just left behind on the island? The death date on his headstone in Sun’s flash-forward was the date of the Oceanic 815 crash - so did he die trying to get off the island, and the whole cover-up story includes saying he died in the crash?
Also, the Oceanic 6. Does baby Aaron count as one of them? I don’t think so; his name wouldn’t have been on the original flight manifest because he was still in utero at the time of the crash.
And Hurley visiting Jin’s grave site with Sun after she gave birth - was that before or after he was put in the asylum for losing it when he saw the post-dead Charlie? I say before.
And is the Michael on the boat really Michael - or a grown up Walt? That’s one of the theories being bandied about, now that the whole idea of time travel / interference has been introduced.
I could not believe Juliette said that to Jin about Sun’s affair! I understand her motivation, but she can sure be cold when she wants to.
And what about the trick the writers played on us - letting us think that Jin’s flashback was a flash-forward, that he was going to see Sun give birth, when really it was a flashback to when he was still working for her father. They sure had me.
If you’re a Lost fan, don’t miss Entertainment Weekly’s recap by Doc Jensen. He does one after every episode, and he picks up on all sorts of things I miss - like the title of the book Regina was reading upside down when she was guarding Desmond and Sayid.
Okay, anymore Lost talk will happen in the comments.
~ This video is amazing - I wish I could have been there to see it! I can’t remember where I saw it linked, sorry if I owe you a Hat Tip.
~ Melanie Lynne Hauser, the author of the Super Mom books (my reviews are here and here), has started a serial fiction blog, The Adventures of Saffron Sally - and it’s a very entertaining read.

I’ve stopped watching Lost this season, because I’m starting at the beginning at watching it with my eldest. It’s one of those shows that I’ve been hit and miss with anyway, and I wanted to watch it without missing anything. Son is very much enjoying it, but partway into the first season, I’m cringing at some of the sexiness (at least to watch with my son!) and hoping it doesn’t get any more explicit.
March 14th, 2008 at 12:29 pmLOST! Oh my land!! I was so taken aback with the whole flash forward/ flash back with Sun and Jin. That was wild and so unexpected.
I think that Michael is Michael on the boat. Didn’t we “see” a grown up Walt when Ben had shot Locke?
And what about the gal who was in chains and jumped off the boat. I mentioned to my husband about it being something about playing with people’s perceptions of things. I mean maybe she really isn’t dead. And then when you think of the episode itself they were totally playing with our perceptions of reality with the flash forward and back at the same time thing.
And yeah, talk about cold and blunt with the whole “Hey Jin your wife had an affair” bit!
Thanks for posting about LOST. Gotta go to bed now.
March 14th, 2008 at 6:19 pmJuliet is a …..an Other. If I’d been Sun, I’d've walked to Locke’s camp no matter what right at that moment.
I think Michael is Michael on the boat and that he’s Ben’s mole but no friend of Sayid & Desmond. My guess is that Walt was only off the island while Michael, Sawyer, Jin and he were on that raft.
Cheat! Cheat! On the flashback/flashforward of Sun and Jin. That was just so manipulatively sad. I hadn’t thought about it, but I’ll be that was pre-meltdown of Hurley.
I think that Jin dies sometime before they’re rescued. I can’t see him staying on the island w/Sun pregnant and she seemed too convinced of his death to have it be a ruse that he stays on the island and pretends the crash date was the day he died. Hurley should know if that was the case.
March 17th, 2008 at 1:45 pmKris - I’m answering you in an e-mail, ‘kay?
Laura and Carrie - I agree, I think it’s Michael on the boat, too. And I think Ben’s got Walt, and that’s why he’s working for him, but I could be wrong. It’s certainly been good this season, hasn’t it?
