Have you seen the trailer for the movie P.S. I Love You? If not, go to this link and watch it right now, then come back. I’m serious - go!

Okay, doesn’t that look like a great, girls’ night, three-hankie movie? And, it has Gerard Butler in it. And, the guy who played Denny on Grey’s Anatomy. Sigh.

Since the movie looks so good, I jumped at the chance to review the soundtrack. And, like all soundtracks, I loved some songs and could take and leave some others.

“Love You ‘Til the End” by the Pogues, “Same Mistake” by James Blunt, “More Time” by Needtobreathe, “Last Train Home” by Ryan Star, “My Sweet Song” by Toby Lightman, “P. S. I Love You” by Nellie McKay, and “Everything We Had” by The Academy Is… fall into the first category - they’re great.

“Carousel” by Laura Izibor, “Fortress” by Hope, and “Rewind” by Paolo Nutini - not so great, at least to me. And the other songs were just okay. But I’m pretty picky about music, and my tastes have mellowed a lot, so some of you might love them.

That’s the great thing about MP3 players - I can keep the songs I like on there, delete the ones I don’t. At the Amazon link above, you can listen to samples of every song.

Here’s the press release:

Atlantic Records has announced the forthcoming release of P.S. I Love You Music From The Motion Picture, the original motion picture soundtrack to the Warner Bros. Pictures/Alcon Entertainment romantic comedy/drama. Due in stores on December 4th, the album features tracks from a diverse range of top artists, including James Blunt, Paolo Nutini, and the one-and-only Pogues. P.S. I Love You, the film, is slated to open in theatres nationwide on December 21st.

P.S. I Love You Music From The Motion Picture is highlighted by “Same Mistake”, the second single from James Blunt’s acclaimed new Atlantic album, All The Lost Souls. “Same Mistake” will be featured in the upcoming ad campaign heralding the release of P.S. I Love You, with the Grammy-nominated troubadour slated to perform the song on a number of high-profile TV programs. P.S. I Love You Music From The Motion Picture also includes tracks from such acclaimed singer/songwriters as Nellie McKay, Chuck Prophet, and Lava/Atlantics own Toby Lightman, as well as from modern rock outfits like Fueled By Ramen recording group The Academy Is, and Atlantic recording group NEEDTOBREATHE.

Actually, “Denny” is a later love interest in this movie played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Gerard Butler is of “300″ fame, and “The Phantom of the Opera” (he was the phantom) and is her hubby who dies. Just FYI. :-)

I cannot wait to see this movie. Definitely a girls night out!

Becky - I realized that - I was just excited to have two such yummy actors in the same film! :) And, I couldn’t remember Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s name - he’s always just “Denny” to me.

What’s awesome is that NEEDTOBREATHE are a christian band. If you liked “more time” you should check out the rest of their album “the Heat”

    Jayne - I didn’t realize that - I will check it out!
