I almost forgot to post the answers to the quiz! Here they are:
1. In, Out, Over, On – What game does this refer to?
This refers to what we in the US call Chinese jump rope. In the comments, I noticed Debs – who is from the UK – calls it French skipping, but what she is describing (a big elastic band) sounds like the same thing.
2. What’s the next line? Say, say, oh, playmate, come out and play with me…
And bring your dollies three, Climb up my apple tree, Cry down my rain barrel, slide down my cellar door, and we’ll be jolly friends, forevermore, more, one, two, three, four!
There is also a second verse that I don’t know, but includes the line Staci mentioned: “My dolly’s got the flu…”
3. Onesies, twosies, threesies, leftovers – What game does this refer to?
Jacks – Karen was right.
4. What’s the next line? Not last night, but the night before…
Twenty four robbers came knocking at my door. Again, seems to be a regional version as Debs remembers something different.
Thanks for playing along!
