Review and Giveaway of Blue Moo by Sandra Boynton
Several years ago, when the kids were really little, I started looking for some good children’s music. I checked out a bunch of different CDs from the library, and boy, there is a lot of really awful, annoying kids’ music out there. If you’re a parent, you know what I mean. And then, I found Philadelphia Chickens
We also bought Rhinoceros Tap
When the kids and I received a promo package from Workman Publishing with Ms. Boynton’s newest book/CD combo, Blue Moo: 17 Jukebox Hits From Way Back Never
In BLUE MOO Boynton gives an audio-visual nod to her own childhood memories and musical idols with her fourth family-friendly book and CD set. All three of her previous book and CD sets have earned Gold® records, and her second set, Philly Chickens was a Grammy nominee. As you’ll see from the artist list, BLUE MOO is a throwback to the jukebox era and features artists of today along-side legendary artists of yesteryear and forever such as B.B. King, Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys, Davy Jones of the Monkees, Bobby Vee, and Neil Sedaka. Plus reminiscent illustrations to boot!
The amazing thing is that Sandra Boynton has no musical training whatsoever, and yet this is her fourth CD full of great songs. Go watch the YouTube video of the making of Blue Moo. You’ll get to see behind the scenes of how Ms. Boynton draws her fabulous illustrations, and also see video of Davy Jones, Sha Na Na, Neil Sedaka, and others recording the songs. Oh my goodness we are HUGE Sandra Boynton fans. My son has grown up listening to all of her CD’s. We have lots of her books and the first book he memorized before he was 13 months was “Moo Baa La La La”
