Whining…

July 24, 2006 Categories: Rants | 10 Comments

Okay, I haven’t wanted to whine about the heat, because from what I hear it’s hot all over. But at our house on Friday it was 116 degrees. Today at noon it was already 101, and rapidly rising. Now, if we lived in Arizona or New Mexico, that might be normal. But we live in Washington State, folks. Granted, northeastern Washington tends to get hot in the summer. We usually have a couple weeks where we get over 100 in August. If it’s this hot now, what will next month be like?

I feel ya… we’re doing the same thing here in N. California. It was 115 on Saturday and the power went out for a few minutes. This, coupled with the latest utility bill for $500, is NOT endearing me to this state!

    Broiling I’m sure.

Guess, I got nothing to complain about; here in Wisconsin it’s been “only” in the 90′s. But gosh we could sure use some rain!

    *Ew*

It’s oppressive isn’t it? I returned some books to the library yesterday about 4:00 p.m. and had an epiphany! Our house is hot – the library is cool. Today we’re headed there and it will be a reading afternoon.

I think what’s difficult is the *string* of hot days. Usually there are just two or three together. But this has been so many heaped up on each other.

I had to go & put that into metric cause all those big F #’s mean absolutely nada to me. Whoa. That’s 46.6C. We hit 40 on Sat but it’s been gradually cooling. Hope you get the same weather front as us…I think the cool air is coming down from Alaska.

It’s bad all over – but it could be worse. That’s what I think every time I open the paper and read the news of the world.

Karen – I guess I shouldn’t complain – it hasn’t affected our utility bills, because we’re on the plan where you pay the same amount every month.

    Lucyricardo – yep!

Jodi – we’ve had a couple of quick lightning/thunder/showers, but not enough to make a difference.

Mrs. Mouse – my thoughts exactly!

Carol – yes, exactly. I can handle one or two here and there, but weeks on end gets a little old.

Hornblower – I’ll hold out for that front for Alaska – that would be great.

Melanie – yes, you’re right of course. Comparatively, things could be much, much worse.

Carrie, I wanted to check into that plan when we moved here, but couldn’t find any info on it. I’m not sure they do it here. We did it back in NE, and it was so nice.

Hello! Hope you cool off soon.
