Links for Friday

Well, my two days of complete freedom are almost over. I’m just about ready to head for bed. Did I do everything that I wanted to do? No. But I did:

~See The Lake House - very good movie, nice and romantic. Just don’t try to figure out the science of it or you’ll go away scratching your head.

~Get my hair cut. Six inches or so gone, to be precise. It was down to the middle of my back and all one length except for my bangs. It is now just brushing my collar bone and layered and I absolutely love it. It makes me look younger - not a bad way to spend $14.

~Catch up on my Bloglines.

~Chat nonstop for 2 1/2 hours with my best friend - with no interruptions.

~Have dinner with my parents and win two games of progressive rummy. With no interruptions.

~Take a shower and shave my legs. Did I mention no interruptions?

It was a wonderful, blissful time, topped off with a message on the answering maching from my husband.

“Honey, just wanted to let you know we’re having a great time. Nothing to worry about. Could you please bring up some sunflower seeds, two bags of ice, and Natalie’s tennis shoes cause her sandals are toast? See you tomorrow. Sleep good and drive careful. Love you.”

I am missing my family and now have two days of being at the lake with them ahead of me. Life is good.

Since I’m leaving tomorrow morning, I’m doing some Links for Friday a little early. Enjoy.

1. If you’re as much of a movie nut as I am, and have time to waste, this site is fascinating. Someone has compiled an extensive list of all the roles in movies that people turned down or were fired from or had to drop for other reasons. Here are a few tidbits:

~Mel Gibson almost didn’t cast himself in Braveheart because he thought he was too old!

~Rock Hudson as Ben-Hur? I can’t see it.

~Warren Beatty and Kevin Costner both turned down the lead role in Dave, which starred Kevin Kline. One of our favorites.

2. For something more serious, check out Thicket Dweller’s beautiful post on interest-led learning. It is long, but a must-read.

3. If you like to doodle or you like Jackson Pollock, this is the site for you. Hat tip to my hubby who e-mailed us this link from work. (Hint: clicking the mouse changes the color.)

Neat links!! I will have to spend some time at the movie site. The Lake House is on my list of movies to see as well.

  2. Mrs. House Mouse

Exactly how did the sandals get turned into toast? *Hmm*

Hope you enjoy lake! Safe trip to all!

(Glad you still have hair! *LOL*)

Shaved your legs? Both of ‘em, in the same shower?? :D MAN!

Have fun, and when you get back, things will be nice and shiny in the backend. Enjoy!

oh - that sound slike quite a treat of a vacation and now you get to go meet them at the lake?!? how lovely. i finally shaved my legs today - it had been over ten days!! not good for the summer!! but my hair is blonde and not eery noticeable. And I pretty much have done laundry and blogged since we came home from camp. but man does it feel nice to get them shaved!

Karen - you’re the one blogger I know who is even more “into” movies than I am. Yep, that site is right up your alley.

Mrs. House - the velcro on her sandals stopped sticking and they kept falling off while she was running around! She needs some new ones.

Andrea - both legs! Woo hoo!

Janice - I HATE shaving my legs, so I can relate. Unfortunately the hair on my legs is dark brown and stiff, so I can’t let it go very long in the summer. Now the winter is another story. My poor husband.
