Update: It was Kris at Paradise Found that recommended this wonderful book to me. Thanks, Kris!
My kids like to be read to and (the ones that can) like to read. But I’ve never seen a reaction to a book like this before! Not only did they go to bed with plans in their head for their own box-stick-and-rock world, but they asked their daddy permission this morning to use a corner of the yard that wouldn’t have to be picked up for “mow-lawning” as Jonathan says.
They spent all morning after chores outside working on their world. They decided to use beads for money instead of black pebbles cause all the rocks in our yard look pretty much the same.
I had a meeting at 11 and took the kids to my parents’ house. They took the book with them to read to Grandmama and Papa.
After coming home, they spent most of the afternoon outside playing in their world.
Noah is now reading the book aloud to his friend Cyrus over the phone.

My son used to like to watch Craig use the mow-lawner too! Gosh, I wish that kids would stay little!
